Ian MurgitroydIan Murgitroyd
Internationally, Ian is recognised as one of the most authoratative voices in the area of intelectual property. He is a Chartered Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney, Registered Trade Mark Agent, and Community Trade Mark Attorney, and is the Chairman of Strathclyde University Incubator Ltd.

Such is his reputation he has built a business that now has around 200 technical and support staff in total in their offices in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dublin, Belfast, London, Munich (Germany) and Nice (France). Murgitroyd Group plc was one of only two Scottish companies to float on AIM.

Along with being Chairman of Murgitroyd Group plc, Ian is a member of the Intellectual Property Committee of the Law Society of Scotland. He is also a founder member of the Entrepreneurial Exchange.


Freddie Stirling
Freddie is Chairman and Investment Manager of Gresham House plc, an investment trust specialising in venture and development capital and provides the Board with expert advice on corporate fundraising.

He has been involved in investments in start-up situations since the early seventies. He is also Chairman and Investment Manager of Welsh Industrial Investment Trust plc and a non-executive director of Avesco plc.


Hugh Thompson OBE, BSc., MIEEHugh Thompson OBE, BSc., MIEE
Hugh recently retired from the position of Director of the Research and Consultancy Services Office at the University of Strathclyde where he was responsible for patenting, licensing and the formation of spin-out companies. The Research and Consultancy Services Office was one of the first such offices in the UK to combine the management of university research, grants and contracts with the commercialisation of the resulting intellectual property.

He is currently chairman of Industrial Systems and Control Ltd and in the past was managing director of Integrated Micro Applications Ltd and worked for the Wolfson Microelectronics Institute, Unilever, the Production Engineering Research Association and AEI Ltd.


Derek MacGarvieDerek McGarvie
Derek brings extremely valuable commercial banking experience to The Strathclyde University Incubator through has held a variety of business commercial banking posts with Lloyds TSB both in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

He currently holds a senior manager position at the Lloyds TSB Direct Business Centre in Glasgow where he runs a team of business managers specialising in businesses ranging from start ups to turnover of £2 million and with lending requirements of up to £500,000.


Richard MorrisRichard Morris
Richard is a specialist in business development having joined Scottish Enterprise in . He held numerous positions within the organisation until when he left to start his own business.

He was one of the prime movers in bringing about the inception of Strathclyde University Incubator Ltd and remains on our board as an independent advisor.


Ken ChrystieKenneth G Chrystie
Kenneth is an active Consultant within the firm’s Corporate and Commercial practice and continues to advise many substantial clients on ongoing commercial and corporate matters particularly involving complex commercial negotiations across a very broad spectrum of business.

He is an accredited IP Specialist and has extensive experience in licensing and exploitation of IP Rights and their commercialisation generally including in an international context. He is a non-executive Director of Murgitroyd Group plc. Kenneth holds and has held a number of external positions providing strategic advice including, amongst others, as a trustee of the Kelvingrove Refurbishment Appeal.


Craig CampbellCraig Campbell
After many years of working with high profile organisations like Ernst & Young, Lloyds TSB and Murgitroyd & Company, Craig, a chartered accountant, now runs his own business acting as an advisor in financial and business development matters as well as being a valuable coach, mentor and counselling associate.

Craig is a founding director of the Strathclyde University Incubator and also ran the Scottish Enterprise Foundation's Graduate Enterprise programme.
